I installed trn and the appropriate libīs, but when I try to start it I get this message:
Can't open /usr/lib/news/active
Couldn't open any newsrc groups. Is your access file ok?

Well, I have no /usr/lib/news/active, only a ~/News/ which is empty.

And there is no man page.
trn.sourceforge.net has no documentation either.

I found some stuff here:
http://advisor.uchicago.edu/docs/unix/usenet/trn/
but, it seems to me like I'm missing files that the installation/first run should create..

Could someone enlighten me?

If you look in /usr/local/lib/trn you will find a file called 'access.def'.

Go to the bottom of that file, and add:

[default]
NNTP Server = news

(replace 'news' with whatever the NNTP server is that you are using).

That seems to work for me. You may have to do more with that file. It looks like it is vaguely self-documenting.
