Hello again.
I want to generate attention to the workings of forked.net, and its curator, apex. Much of this software is the product of the fink group, repackaged and credits removed by apex. This leads me to wonder, who is the real fink in this situation.....

Documented by fink...a MUST read:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/pr/forked-thread.php

My post from a few weeks ago:
I have downloaded a few packages from forked.net, and many ot them I KNOW are GPL'd and do not mention it. Also, it seems many of the packages on this site were FIRST ported by the Fink project. I took a look there at their site and found this page about the situation. Apex, that is really lousy, and not only should you label packakes that OTHER hardworking folks have ported, but apologize to them and post it on your site. I appreciate the service that you provide, but taking credit (not to mention MONEY!) for work that isnt your own shows a tremendous lack of character.

More importantly (re: GPL), where is the source code? You had better hope that none of the original copyright holders for these packages comes after you . . .

so? I see forked.net's services as alternate means for installing popular packages...apex has done great job in making them packages...

The point of this post is that he (a) took many of the packages from Fink and simply relabelled them, and (b) forgot to include a link to the GPL or to the source, which he is required to do if he wants to redistribute the software.
That's all.

"many" being six out of one hundred fortysix! besides, the download pages have links to orogonal sites, which surely mention GPL or any other licence that's used.
