Anyone curious about where many of these packages came from should go to this site:

I encourage you to read that page, and read the log of the email exchange to see how fucked up that particular person is (he has now resigned from fink). For those who are counting, "many" means 6 packages from fink. And so what? what if they all came from fink? There are no copyrights being broken, no credit being taken, and using a package installer still has many advantages over fink.

Umm...seems to me the exchange speaks rather poorly for *you*, rather than for the fellow from Fink.

OSS is a volunteer exercise. Your "so what?" comment is an absolute illustration of everything wrong with your perspective here. YOU DID NOT DO THE WORK TO PORT THOSE PACKAGES. All the original porters asked for is *credit*, and this is apparently outrageous to you.

What's more, the lack of GPL info or source links does in fact put you in the realm of copyright violation.

These packages are very useful, but you are being very naive in your handling of this situation.
