a free 3D modling and animation package for linux -- amazingly powerfull! http://www.blender.nl/

just thought I'd ask. It looks like it would be a lot of work and difficult. But they could use some pointers...

blender does not appear to be an open-source application. If I am in error, please provide a URL to the source code.

Its free for linux, don't know what their business model is. Only saw it on a friend's computer and he said it was open source. guess not. HOWEVER, the link below shows the parts of blender that are open source. Some other software use as well. But if they had that out of their way (and knew it and had a copy) it may speed them up on making their OS X version, which is mentioned as a "work in progress". Hopefully, it will also be free for the mac.

Its truely impressive--not lightwave, but hey its free!
