Some one has already ported ffmpeg to OSX (ftp://ftp.oaai.com/pub/ports/ffmpeg.tgz) but it's not optimised in anyway. This is a great transcoder which very fast on wintel box, but a lot slower on mac. If anyone is keen to optimise it, please feel free!
