Please someone port the nntp news group apps News Bin Pro and News Pro to mac os x. Those 2 apps are the best in the world in my opinion for accessing news groups. currently the mac has crud for news groups. no app is worth using in my opinion. www.newsbin.com is for news bin pro and www.usenetopia.com is for news pro.

Apex, you are really working to port those 2 apps to mac os x?
could you please tell me what all that means you have to do and stuff?
I'd like to start learning to program in mac os x, but as I have no idea how to program and stuff, not sure where to start. the os x dev tools cd has stuff. is that ok to start with? I need something really easy and easy to understand. just to get started.
any thoughts?

When i posted i was 'working' on it i should have said i'd downloaded it and it was in my todo list. It is not open-sourced afaik so there is no way to port it. Contact the developers and tell them you want a version for Mac OS X. Good luck, and I'm sorry for any confusion.

already did. they will not touch mac as they hate the mac.
what you could do is add features to newsflash. how bout that? newsflash is open source. newsflash is already made for mac os x and open source. it just needs some features to make it complete. would you please do that?? i can give you a list of what features to add. you do this then you could sell it and corner the market as it would be the best news group program in the world on any platform with my help and suggestions.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but what you need is a software developer, which I am not. Try tin or trn http://macosx.forked.net/ports/trn-4.0-test76.pkg.tgz .

It's not that we hate Mac. We are real close to buying a new G4 because we like OSX. Once we get a linux port of NewsBin working, it may work on OSX right away or with some minor tweaks. Be patient.

Now, BINHEX, we hate. It is a major pain to implement. But we will do it when we get an OSX version running.

Have you tried running NewsBin in a windows emulator on the Mac?

wow, dexter, that was a good one I'm not trying to troll here or nothing, but just voice my thoughts OS X is a really good platform IMO, and while I'm not a coder myself, I like to compile stuff myself from sources...

NewsbinPro is definitly the greatest news prog out there. I had it on Windows, and now that Im on OS X it is definitly on the top of my missing-apps list. A port of it would be great, and definitly would get a hell load of registrations, I know I would
